Whether you are married or in a de facto relationship, the end of the relationship usually signals a time when you and your spouse will need to decide how to divide your assets and debts.
For the majority of our clients, Consent Orders provide the quickest and least expensive way to finalise their property settlement. If you have reached an agreement with your spouse, we can promptly formalise your agreement into Consent Orders so that both parties can move on with their lives.
If you are yet to reach an agreement with your spouse, or if you are unsure what next steps to take, we will listen to what you want to achieve and will guide you through the options to best achieve the outcome you want. We can work with you to quantify the relationship assets and liabilities, and to negotiate a fair property settlement with your spouse.
Our goal is to achieve a fair outcome for clients whilst at the same time minimising the trauma and expense of legal action. Unfortunately, the breakdown of a relationship usually involves some tension and conflict. It is regrettable, then, if the legal process itself increases that conflict.
We work towards an amicable settlement where possible, as we believe that an adversarial approach is often counter-productive to resolving family law matters. A more collaborative, less adversarial, approach can save you money and avoid the emotional strain of court proceedings.
We offer an initial consultation for a reduced rate of $195. This first consultation usually takes 1 to 2 hours. In this time, you can tell us about your situation and we can provide you with initial advice.
Sometimes, an initial consultation is all that is required, and clients who see us for an initial consultation are under no obligation to retain our firm.
We are conveniently located in the Eaton Central shopping centre at Eatons Hill, where there is plenty of parking available. Being located on the outskirts of the city rather than in the Brisbane CBD, our overheads are lower than similar-sized city firms. This allows us to pass on the savings by way of reasonable fees.
