About Us

Our Approach

Davey Law specialises in all aspects of Family Law and is conveniently located in the Eaton Central shopping centre at Eatons Hill, where there is plenty of parking available (enter from Bunya Park Drive).

As a law practice, our goal is to achieve just outcomes for our clients whilst at the same time minimising the worry and expense of legal action. We work towards an amicable settlement, as we believe that an adversarial approach is unsuited to relationship conflicts. To that end, both our Principal (Yvonne Davey) and Senior Solicitor (Mark Vaughan) have trained as Collaborative Law practitioners.

Nevertheless, if your matter is beyond negotiation and requires litigation to achieve a fair outcome, we will diligently represent you in court.

We listen to what you want to achieve in the whole exercise of separating from your partner, and we guide you through the process that will best achieve the outcome you want. We also advise you about what outcomes are realistically achievable in your particular circumstances.

As you will see on our testimonials page, our clients appreciate the manner in which we undertake their matters, and the support and understanding that we extend to our clients during these emotionally difficult times in their lives.

Yvonne Davey (Principal)

The Principal, Yvonne Davey, while working at (then) Telecom, completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree, receiving a prize for Administrative Law. Yvonne’s love of the law prompted her to undertake full-time study for her Bachelor of Laws and Master of Administration degrees, after which she completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, commencing almost immediately as a family lawyer with Trilby Misso Lawyers.

Yvonne has practised in Family Law since late 1998. After working as an employed solicitor for several years, Yvonne opened Davey Law from her home in 2009. The practice grew quickly, and within a year, it was necessary to move into our present  commercial premises here at Eaton Central. The lease arrangements and fit-out took around 9 months, and we commenced operating from the Eatons Hill premises in July 2011.

Yvonne’s pastimes include reading, music and art. Her philosophy for Davey Law is to provide sound legal advice and excellent service to clients at an affordable price. Davey Law staff are also passionate about providing caring, competent service in a timely manner. Yvonne sees her clients as more than just customers: they are people about whom we care, and for whom we make an extra effort to achieve the outcomes that they need.

Mark Vaughan  (Senior Solicitor)

Mark joined our firm  in September 2018 as a Senior Solicitor with considerable experience in all aspects of Family Law including, among other things, matrimonial property issues, parenting matters, child protection and domestic violence.  Mark will provide you with quality advice and will carefully explain all of your options.

His career in law commenced in 1998 as an office junior, prior to undertaking  Articles of Clerkship whilst studying his law degree part-time.  In 2009, he was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia and has been mentored by several Accredited Family Law Specialists during his subsequent professional career.

In line with the general thinking of Davey Law, Mark has a particular interest in resolving matters by mediation wherever possible rather than through litigation.  We believe this to be in the best interests of all parties, and especially in parenting matters.

Furthermore, Mark has completed his initial training in Collaborative Law – a formal process for resolving family law disputes outside the Court forum.

Mark and his wife Stacey have two young children.  He plays an active role in their school community and also in their extracurricular activities. Mark is president of the local BMX Club where his son races.
